Do you go to a local spa occasionally or are you thinking of pampering yourself in the near future? A massage or, even and a sauna makes a terrific difference to how you feel that day and that sensation can last a number of days. You feel livelier, invigorated, up for anything that the world can throw at you. Those are good enough reasons for going to your local spa once or twice a week on their own, |but I will give you five good reasons for buying a spa day package.

Firstly, spa day packages are carefully planned series of treatments designed to compliment each other. One package may work on your skin and pores another on precise beauty treatments like eyes, hair, hands and feet, whilst others may concentrate on cellulose, thighs and buttocks.

In short, if you take a spa day package, you can have a set of treatments to help resolve a difficulty that has been suggested by an expert. Rather than guessing what might be right for your precise condition yourself, a package will lead you down a well-trodden route which might include a traditional massage, massage with hot stones, aromatherapy, a facial, a herbal or mud wrap, hot towels, exfoliation or numerous other treatments.

Secondly, you will be able to decide on a package that suits what you would like. For example, if you are on your feet all day, you might want a spa day package that concentrates on sore feet. A full pedicure, in fact, including a foot massage with oils, nail treatment and a long soaking in a foot spa of herbal water.

Thirdly, there is a very good likelihood that the price of the spa day package will be a great deal less than the combined price of all he treatments if you were to buy them separately. In other words, spa day packages ought to be discounted and if you go with a friend or two, maybe you can ask for a further discount for a group booking. Who knows? If you do not ask, you do not get!

Fourthly, a day spa package is like a mini-holiday. Spending several hours in a relaxing atmosphere with specialists pampering you is a wonderful experience. Most people simply do not want to leave when they are getting to the end of their day spa package.

Fifthly, not just that, but the experience is so good that it becomes addictive. You will want to go back again and either take the same set of treatments or try a different spa day package. Try it and see. A day spa package puts a whole new meaning to the phrase: ‘I am only popping out for a massage’.

First Aid Training And Kits For Kids

Children frequently copy what they see. They are good learners and they are programmed to be exactly that. Once they can walk and talk they have about ten years to learn as much as possible before being given a lot of freedom to walk the world alone. This differs from country to country and from century to century, but the principle is the same.

Although most children are fairly heavily supervised during these ten years, a lot of children do spend a bit of time alone or just in the company of just other children. This means that it is a good idea to teach children some emergency measures. In the early days, First Aid training for kids could be as easy as teaching them to phone the emergency number if they see or are in difficulty.

Thirty years ago while I was living in the Netherlands, I witnessed an attempted suicide by overdose. My friend was giving CPR and he asked me to go to the phone box and call the ambulance. I went but once I got there, 999 (the UK emergency number did not do anything). I looked around in the phone box but could not see an emergency number although my Dutch was fluent. I had to go outside and stop a passer-by to enquire. I wasted minutes and he passed away.

Before a child goes off to school at five or six, children ought to know the fundamentals like: the emergency number, not to talk to strangers, not to get into anyone’s car, that blood is dangerous and has to be treated and that bones break, so to take care when running about. Anything else would be a bonus.

You could also make a First Aid kit with your child. You could sit down, discuss the contents of a functional, personal First Aid kit and then take your child to a pharmacy to purchase the odds and ends. When back home, you could discuss how to use the contents, pack them into a box and place that in the child’s school bag.

Get into the habit of going through the contents of the kit with your child to replenish used and out-of-date things. This is also useful for reinforcing what the things are used for.

A First Aid kit for a school beginner could include soap, disposable gloves, plasters, iodine, calamine lotion, sunblock, a few small coins for the telephone and a card with your address and phone number on it..

Afterwards, as the years go by, you could add paracetamol, bandages, scissors, tweezers, matches and anything else you think is crucial.

You could extend the list of telephone numbers to include a trusted neighbour or grandparent in case you are engaged and maybe the head teacher at school too. You could hold a short quiz from time to time in the guise of a game to make certain that your child understands what everything is for and who to phone.

Once your child gets to eight or nine, enroll him or her into the scouts, guides or a paramedical association such as the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade to continue the First Aid training for kids.

When the weather outside warms up, the kitchen can be a terrible place to be. There are many things you can do however, when it comes to cooking a nice home made meal that does not require traditional stove top or oven cooking.

Learn to make use of some of the less heat-creating equipment in your kitchen, such as the crock pot, in order to truly overcome the summer heat and keep your cool while preparing a nice hot meal for friends and family.

So, how does crock pot cooking actually help beat the heat? Simply put, the crock pot in and of itself gives off far less heat when cooking than an oven or stove top. This is the first and possibly the best reason to utilize the crock pot in your summer meal planning.

You should also consider the fact that by not heating the house by using your stove top or oven you are also lessening the load on your air conditioning (or other cooling methods) so you are not requiring it to work overtime in order to compensate for the extra heat that other cooking methods introduce.

This makes crock pot cooking a win-win situation as the expenditure involved in operating a crock pot are far less than the expenditure involved in operating a stove or oven. Whether electric or gas, your stove and oven are serious energy users. Add to that the fact that you are not raising the temperature in your home by traditional means of cooking and you are using even less electricity.

Regrettably, the general consensus has been that crock pots are meant for comfort foods and hearty winter meals. The truth is that the crock pot should be one of your best loved and most often utilized cooking techniques. When it comes to cooking with a crock pot, the options are almost limitless. Almost anything that can be baked can be made in the crock pot and many, many more wonderful and tempting meals and treats as well.

Benefits of Crock Pot Cooking

In addition to the cost benefits written above, when it comes to crock pot cooking there are many other advantages that are worth mentioning. First of all, the bulk of the work involved in crock pot cooking takes place early in the day when you are refreshed rather than at the end of a hectic work or play day.

The result is that you are less likely to forget an ingredient or make some other mistake, which can easily happen when trying to cook after a hectic day.

Second, many great crock pot recipes include the vegetables that ensure that we get the vitamins we need. So often, when preparing a meal at the last minute, vegetables and other side dishes are left out for the sake of speed. Crock pot cooking, on the other hand, is a meal in one dish.

Another great reason to use a crock pot for your summertime cooking is the ease of washing up. Unlike traditional cooking with a couple of pots and pans, most crock pot meals are completed in one pot. This obviously reduces the hardware required to be washed up or loaded into the dishwasher (or if you are the same as me – both) afterwards.

So, you spend less time cleaning up, just as you spent less time slaving over a hot stove. Well, make that no time slaving over a hot stove and once the washing up is done, you can get back to enjoying the sun set, mucking about with with the dog or kids, or just waiting for the first stars.

While there will never be a method of cooking that suits everyone, crock pot cooking comes very close. So, if you have a crock pot collecting dust somewhere in the back of your pantry it is time to get it out, dust if off, and dig up some great summertime crock pot cooking recipes.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with the 2 quart crock pot. If you have an interest in cooking or crock pots, please go over to our website now at Large Crock Pots

What Of Formula One?

Formula One, also known as Formula 1 or F1, and officially referred to as the FIA Formula One World is the highest class of single seater auto racing authorized by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

The “formula” in the name refers to a set of regulations with which all participants’ cars must comply. It is almost certainly the most widely watched televised spectator sport in the world after football.

Formula One can be seen live or tape delayed in almost each country and territory around the world and attracts one of the largest global television audiences. The 2008 season attracted a global audience of 600 million people per race.

It is a massive television event; the cumulative TV audience was calculated to be 54 billion for the 2001 season, broadcast to two hundred countries.

This is a long way indeed from its first beginnings. The very first Formula One World Championship Motor race took place at Silverstone in the United Kingdom in 1950 . In those initial days, teams who no longer compete on the modern F1 circuit dominated events with the very first World Championship being won by Italian Giuseppe Farina in an Alfa Romeo.

His team mate, the legendary Juan Fangio, won the title almost continuously until 1957 and, in fact, his record of five World Championship wins held until 2003 when Michael Schumacher won his sixth title.

It was during this period that probably the greatest driver never to win the World Championship was competing – the U.K.?s Stirling Moss.

One team that did contend in those early years was Ferrari, or Scuderia Ferrari to give the team its full title, whose prancing horse logo is followed by the red shirted fans or ?tifosi? across the world. In fact, over the last couple of years the sport has been dominated by Ferrari who until recently has been one of the few teams to manufacture the complete car, engine and all.

However the U.K. team of Maclaren, using engines from Mercedes Benz, have proved extremely successful. Another very successful team during the 2010 season proved to be Red Bull racing using engines supplied by Renault.

It is interesting to note that in the cases of both Maclaren and Red Bull, they have proved a lot more successful than the teams fielded by their engine suppliers, Mercedes and Renault. This almost certainly goes a long way to supporting the argument that it is the aerodynamic properties of the car that win races.

After a number of years in which we have seen the number of teams has remained fairly stationary or even declined, 2010 saw a resurgence in the number of cars on the grid with new entries from Lotus, Virgin Racing, and Hispania Racing bringing the number of starters to 24.

The calendar of races is also in a constant state of flux with Korea joining for the 2010 season and India being added in 2011 as Formula 1 becomes more and more a world- wide spectacle as it moves away from its traditional European heartland.

But wherever the teams race and whatever the number of cars on the starting grid it will continue to set the pulses racing as those 5 red lights go out!

There is nothing per se wrong with following a vegetarian regime if you are expecting a baby. Whether you were a vegetarian before you became pregnant or you have decided to be a vegetarian now that you are pregnant, the issue is the same as that for all mothers-to-be: namely, to make sure that you and the baby get all the vitamins and nutrients that you both require.

This is a somewhat more difficult quest if you are just starting off down the vegetarian road because of your lack of knowledge, but it is not that hard. There is so much information on the Net and in books now, and the doctors will be monitoring you, so you ought not miss out on anything you both require.

Your baby will have to grow a few pounds of bones, so calcium is one of your foremost priorities yet it is also one of the nutrients that a non-vegetarian can leave meat to provide. If you are at the level of being a vegetarian where you eat meals of meat and three veg but without the meat, you must have a major rethink, and you could take supplements and eat tofu, broccoli and other dark green leafy vegetables like spinach and cabbage.

Vitamin D is simple, but you do require a regular supply of it. Our skin synthesizes Vitamin D from sunlight, so you have to go out in the sun for half an hour a day or more. However, it is no good going out in the midday sun with suntan lotion on.

It is better to go out in the early morning or late afternoon while the sun is less expected to burn you. It does not even have to be strong sunlight for your body to obtain Vitamin D.

Vitamin B12 is abundant in red meat, but hardly present at all in plants. However, there are a few vegetable sources of vitamin B12: soya (tofu) is one of them and vitamin-enhanced vegetarian products (normally cereals) are another.

Even so, you will almost certainly need to take supplements to get enough vitamin B12 for an expectant mother. Fortunately, your doctor will be keeping an eye on your Vitamin B12 levels and he or she will be able to counsel you.

You will also need lots of iron, which is also plentiful in meat, and also in many vegetables. You have to have iron to keep your blood in decent shape and a lack of iron shows up as aenemia.

Again, dark green, leafy vegetables are the recipe of the day here as are beans, seeds and nuts. However, due to the quantity of iron that you will require, you might require supplements for this one as well.

You require protein. A normal diet gets protein from dairy products like milk and cheese; from eggs and from meat and fish. You may or you may not be eating some of those products, but if you are not then you will need to derive your protein from somewhere else. Tofu is a decent source of vegetable protein, but vegetable protein is a pretty difficult one to find if you do not like tofu.

You will need zinc which again is abundant in meat. If you are looking for a vegetable source there are lots in the form of grains – all the different sorts of grains including those used for bread,

The Olympic Games are a sporting event played every two years at international level. A number of competitions are organized where thousands of athletes from around the world take part. The history of this fantastic sporting competition dates back to the 5th Century AD.

The Olympic Movement classified the Olympic Games into the Winter Olympic Games, the Summer Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games during the 20th and 21st Century.

The Paralympic Games are organized for after the Olympic Games and these are for disabled athletes. The Youth Olympic Games are for teenagers and were first held in 2010. The Olympic Charter defines the organization of the International Olympic Committee i.e. the governing body of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic flag carries five interlocking circles of red, blue, yellow, green and black and was introduced in 1920. The Olympic motto says ?Swifter, Higher, and Stronger?.

Some of the sports events held in the Summer Olympics are baseball, badminton, basketball, cycling, boxing, diving, soccer, sailing, rowing, hockey, water polo, wrestling, swimming, weightlifting, tennis etc.

Games played during the Winter Olympics are skiing, ice hockey, skating, ski jumping, curling, free style skiing, cross country skiing, down hill skiing,

A gold medal is presented to each first winner while silver and bronze medals are presented to the second and third winners respectively. Victory Diplomas are the certificates which are given to some top winners of every sport. The Olympic Flame is lit according to a tradition allied with these games.

A new flame is lit for each Olympics in the Ancient Olympic Stadium in Olympia, Greece. This flame is taken to the host country where the games are to be held.

The flame is carried around the whole host country by individuals walking, running, scuba diving, riding, and using other types of transport. Actually, several torches are carried around the country where the games are held.

The sizeable Olympic torch is lit by the last runner bearing the torch. This large torch keeps burning throughout the games. The flame is put out at the end of the games during the closing ceremony. A new torch is designed for every Olympics.

Just about all the nations of the world are represented at these games. National and international media coverage provides a opportunity to unknown athletes to be famous. The host city and country gets a chance to showcase their country to the world.

The host country organizes and funds the whole event. Over 13,000 athletes compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics in more than 400 activities.

Many challenges are faced when organizing this mega event. Some of the major challenges are terrorism, bribery of officials, boycotts and doping. The host city is usually chosen seven years ahead of the Olympic Games.

The United States has had the chance to host four Summer and four Winter Olympics. No other nation has hosted so many Olympic games.

The next Summer Olympics are scheduled to be held in London in 2012. Women are being particularly promoted to take part in these games. Female athletes will be able to take part in all the men?s sports in the coming Olympics for the first time. Women?s boxing has also been introduced thereby ending gender discrimination.

If you have just been told that your cholesterol levels are out, you will probably be weighing up the alternatives that your doctor gave you. One option would be to take tablets and the other option would be to adjust your diet and take more exercise. The changes in diet are not radical, but they can have a big effect. Exercising might be more of a difficulty to most people who lead an inactive lifestyle.

People talk about cholesterol levels because there are two sorts of cholesterol. The two levels are HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). LDL comes from animal fats (saturated fats), which are prevalent in red meat and full-fat dairy products like milk, butter, cream and cheese but it also comes from hydrogenated trans fats, which are common in margarines, pastry and crisps.

The first thing to do is attempt to cut out saturated fats by switching to chicken and drinking low-fat milk. You could also replace the margarine or butter with one of the cholesterol-decreasing margarines in the supermarkets. Just taking these two steps will make a huge difference to numerous individuals, however, others may have to go a little further.

Grains are very useful in the battle against cholesterol, because of the quantity of fibre in them. Therefore, you could give up your traditional English breakfast of cereals with milk followed by sausage, bacon, eggs and fried bread and instead eat Scots porridge oats with water or low-fat milk followed by wholemeal toast and cholesterol-decreasing margarine. This step alone will also significantly modify your cholesterol levels.

If you like a steak for luncheon sometimes, you may not have to give it up entirely, but if you normally order an eight ounce steak, order a four or six ounce one instead and if you eat that four times a week, cut back to two instead. Replace the steak with meals of skinless chicken and fish. Omega 3 fish oil is considered to be a great ally in the battle against cholesterol.

If you eat a great deal of junk food like greasy hamburgers and oily hot dogs, you will almost certainly have to give them up, but that is not a bad thing anyway. Endeavour to snack on citrus fruits as they are also your friends against LDL cholesterol.

It is not all doom and gloom on the dietary front for sufferers of cholesterol problems. The changes that will be suggested to you to sort out your cholesterol worries have probably already been suggested to you to sort out being over weight or having high blood pressure or even having diabetes.

They are fundamental, sensible minor lifestyle changes which will have a enormous effect on a number of aspects of your body. The same is true of exercise. Most people know that they should exercise more, it is just a shame that most of us need such a significant incentive before we do anything about it.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece, writes on several subjects, but is now concerned with low fat low cholesterol diet. If you want to know more, please visit our site at What Foods Lower Cholesterol?

First Aid Training For Trekkers

A substantial part of First Aid training can be applied to a wide spread of circumstances, but there are also particular situations where certain information is necessary. This is fairly straightforward to understand, because a bump or a scrape can occur under any circumstances, but phenol poisoning would probably only happen in an industrial accident.

There is not much point in learning how to help victims of certain accidents if you are extremely unlikely to ever be able to apply that information. However, you ought to take advantage of each free or subsidized dedicated course that you are offered at work. The same can be stated for any pastime that you have, although you will almost certainly have to pay for the course yourself.

In this situation, I am thinking about swimmers, yachters, campers, hikers and people involved in sports or pastimes of that nature. After all, there is less point in knowing how to save a drowning person if your hobby is walking or mountaineering. Knowing First Aid pointers in the wilderness is very useful, but they are more likely to include, stroke, heart attack, broken bones and unconsciousness.

You are in essence on your own while you are in the outback or on a mountainside. If you are with a partner, all well and good, you are safer, but there is also two times the chance of an accident. However, there are more common reasons for concern than actual physical accidents.

Some of the far more common problems that happen while you are wandering in some wilderness or other are exhaustion, dehydration and insect bites. If you are hiking in the winter or above the snow line, then there is also frostbite and hypothermia to take into account.

In general, there are also snake bites and bites from large animals to consider. Fractured bones due to a fall are quite common, so if you are planning a hike into the wilderness, you actually do have to be prepared, because, if your phone is receiving a signal and the battery is charged, it could still take hours for help to get to you.

If you have a fondness for wandering in the wilderness, the first thing to do is not go alone. Ensure that you go with someone who has more experience than yourself until you can honestly say that you are proficient to lead someone else into a very perilous area where help is hours away by helicopter.

If you have learned how to go into the wilderness by partnering someone else, you ought to be all right. Another way of learning is to join the Scouts. Learning in this manner will give you plenty of time to pick up tips on how to handle exceptional situations.

Do not pretend that you are competent to lead someone else if you do not have the skill. Being stuck tens of miles from anywhere in the dark with a broken leg and no notion what to do is not going to impress anyone.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on numerous subjects, but is currently concerned with school first aid kits. If you have an interest in RC vehicles, please come over to our website now at First Aid Courses Online.

Airbrush Tanning

Since some people started believing that a bronzed body makes them look slimmer, in all probability on the same principle that black clothing makes you look thinner than white clothing, there has been a rush for instant tans and there is no more instant a tan than to have one painted on. This is known as airbrush tanning.

Airbrush tanning can appeal on various levels. It is quick, you can become any shade you like and there is no danger from UV rays natural or artificial. lots of people are frightened by the stories of melanoma that they can get by sunbathing or using a tanning bed, so an instant golden bronze colour appears quite an appealing alternative.

The fad for airbrush tanning has spurred the tanning industry to manufacture a vast range of airbrush-look-alike products. There are creams and lotions and even pills that the manufacturers claim will turn your skin an attractive golden bronze. Unfortunately, most of them turn your skin a rather ridiculous shade of orange.

Then there are the home airbrush tanning kits. Real airbrush tanning is the equivalent of having your car resprayed. You can either have it done by a specialist who has professional spraying equipment or you could go out and purchase a dozen cans of your favourite colour car spray paint and do it yourself.

A car sprayed in the former way normally looks fantastic, but a car sprayed in the latter fashion normally looks dreadful. Well, the same is true for professional salon airbrush tanning and home airbrush tanning. Even amongst professional spray painters some are better than others, so it is best to ask around before you let anyone airbrush you.

So, these are the greatest worries with airbrush tanning. You cannot do it yourself; you cannot trust a friend to do it for you; it is doubtful whether you can even purchase the right apparatus to do it yourself and where do you find a professional whom enough people have allowed to practice on them so that he or she is any good?

Because a decent airbrush tanner will need the right equipment and lots of experience. It is not a trade that can be learned from a book. Airbrush tanning is still a fairly new phenomenon, so a good tanner might be hard to find outside a large city, but you could try asking the owner of your local tanning salon to get one in once a fortnight for those who have booked in advance. A type of guest appearance.

As with any paint work, the secret to a good finish is preparation. If you have never been spray-painted before make certain that you prepare yourself properly. Ask your salon to supply you with a list of things that you can do in order to prepare your body in the correct manner.

Preparatory procedures may include shaving and exfoliating but will involve removing all make-up and body oils by showering well. This will give the paint a good substrate to cling to. The better the preparation you do the better and longer-lasting the airbrush tan – ask any painter and decorator or car sprayer.

Owen Jones, the author of this piece writes on lots of subjects, but is currently involved with bronzing tanning beds. If you would like to know more or check out some immense offers, please go to our web site at Tanning Bed Bulbs.

You will have to make your own mind up on whether cholesterol or omega 6 is to blame for arteriosclerosis. The argument is similar to the dieting difficulty: do you have faith in in the old-style fat-reduction, high carbohydrate diet or the newer, Atkins’ high fat low carbohydrate diet?

It is very confusing for the layman, but that is how specialists sell books. You pay your money and take your choice or you merely go along with your medical doctor.

However, both camps of dietitians agree that fish oil is healthy for you and in particular is good for reducing LDL cholesterol and omega 6 excess. Omega 3 is best found in oily, cold water fish like salmon, herring and mackerel.

They contain relatively high degrees of omega 3 essential fatty acids. Another source of omega 3, but different ones from the fish, is from meat that has been fed on grass.

Garlic is famous for being an antiseptic but it is also good for reducing cholesterol. It seems to have a deleterious impact on LDL (bad) cholesterol, but leaves HDL (good) cholesterol alone. One clove a day is said to be adequate to have a beneficial effect.

Fibre and roughage are crucial for good general health. These components are to be discovered in fruit and vegetables (particularly the leafy green ones); grains, lentils, legumes and nuts. Roughage and fibre will help eradicate LDL cholesterol and prevent constipation. They also help prevent bowel cancer which is on the increase in the West.

Some dietitians say that LDL is not dangerous, but is just a threat and it becomes dangerous after it has been damaged. One form of damage is oxidization. Therefore, anti-oxidants will reduce the risk from cholesterol and atherosclerosis. The next question ought to be: what are strong anti-oxidants?

There is a huge array of anti-oxidants ranging from the fun to the boring. I do not know what you find boring, but flavonoids are a useful anti-oxidant and they are present in high quantities in red wine. As well red wine, other anti-oxidants include: Vitamins Ce and E and beta carotene.

These are available in peppers, citrus fruit, strawberries, cantaloupe melons, broccoli, white carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, mangoes and green leaf vegetables. Other good sources are wheat, oats, nuts and seeds.

Mono unsaturated fat is one of the best sources of oil you can find. Mono unsaturated fat comes best from olive oil, which is one of the reasons why the so-called Mediterranean Diet is so good for people.

Mono unsaturated fat has another beneficial effect: eating it reduces hunger for a longer time than you would expect for the calories involved. This makes it a good substance for dieters. The same is true of roughage, fibre and eggs.

Mono unsaturated fat is one of your best friends in the fight against atherosclerosis. However, it is not merely present in olive oil, it is also in avocados and nuts, particularly pecan nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts and almonds.

Last but not least is ginger. Ginger has a high quantity of phytochemicals known as gingerol and shogaol which are also antioxidants. Ginger not just lowers LDL cholesterol, but it also helps prevent the oxidization of LDL

If you can just implement a few these alterations to your diet you may be able to ward off arteriosclerosis and avoid having to take drugs like statins for ever.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on a number of subjects, and is now concerned with omega 3 arthritis. If you want to know more, please go to our site at Omega 6 9
