Do you go to a local spa occasionally or are you thinking of pampering yourself in the near future? A massage or, even and a sauna makes a terrific difference to how you feel that day and that sensation can last a number of days. You feel livelier, invigorated, up for anything that the world can throw at you. Those are good enough reasons for going to your local spa once or twice a week on their own, |but I will give you five good reasons for buying a spa day package.

Firstly, spa day packages are carefully planned series of treatments designed to compliment each other. One package may work on your skin and pores another on precise beauty treatments like eyes, hair, hands and feet, whilst others may concentrate on cellulose, thighs and buttocks.

In short, if you take a spa day package, you can have a set of treatments to help resolve a difficulty that has been suggested by an expert. Rather than guessing what might be right for your precise condition yourself, a package will lead you down a well-trodden route which might include a traditional massage, massage with hot stones, aromatherapy, a facial, a herbal or mud wrap, hot towels, exfoliation or numerous other treatments.

Secondly, you will be able to decide on a package that suits what you would like. For example, if you are on your feet all day, you might want a spa day package that concentrates on sore feet. A full pedicure, in fact, including a foot massage with oils, nail treatment and a long soaking in a foot spa of herbal water.

Thirdly, there is a very good likelihood that the price of the spa day package will be a great deal less than the combined price of all he treatments if you were to buy them separately. In other words, spa day packages ought to be discounted and if you go with a friend or two, maybe you can ask for a further discount for a group booking. Who knows? If you do not ask, you do not get!

Fourthly, a day spa package is like a mini-holiday. Spending several hours in a relaxing atmosphere with specialists pampering you is a wonderful experience. Most people simply do not want to leave when they are getting to the end of their day spa package.

Fifthly, not just that, but the experience is so good that it becomes addictive. You will want to go back again and either take the same set of treatments or try a different spa day package. Try it and see. A day spa package puts a whole new meaning to the phrase: ‘I am only popping out for a massage’.

When the weather outside warms up, the kitchen can be a terrible place to be. There are many things you can do however, when it comes to cooking a nice home made meal that does not require traditional stove top or oven cooking.

Learn to make use of some of the less heat-creating equipment in your kitchen, such as the crock pot, in order to truly overcome the summer heat and keep your cool while preparing a nice hot meal for friends and family.

So, how does crock pot cooking actually help beat the heat? Simply put, the crock pot in and of itself gives off far less heat when cooking than an oven or stove top. This is the first and possibly the best reason to utilize the crock pot in your summer meal planning.

You should also consider the fact that by not heating the house by using your stove top or oven you are also lessening the load on your air conditioning (or other cooling methods) so you are not requiring it to work overtime in order to compensate for the extra heat that other cooking methods introduce.

This makes crock pot cooking a win-win situation as the expenditure involved in operating a crock pot are far less than the expenditure involved in operating a stove or oven. Whether electric or gas, your stove and oven are serious energy users. Add to that the fact that you are not raising the temperature in your home by traditional means of cooking and you are using even less electricity.

Regrettably, the general consensus has been that crock pots are meant for comfort foods and hearty winter meals. The truth is that the crock pot should be one of your best loved and most often utilized cooking techniques. When it comes to cooking with a crock pot, the options are almost limitless. Almost anything that can be baked can be made in the crock pot and many, many more wonderful and tempting meals and treats as well.

Benefits of Crock Pot Cooking

In addition to the cost benefits written above, when it comes to crock pot cooking there are many other advantages that are worth mentioning. First of all, the bulk of the work involved in crock pot cooking takes place early in the day when you are refreshed rather than at the end of a hectic work or play day.

The result is that you are less likely to forget an ingredient or make some other mistake, which can easily happen when trying to cook after a hectic day.

Second, many great crock pot recipes include the vegetables that ensure that we get the vitamins we need. So often, when preparing a meal at the last minute, vegetables and other side dishes are left out for the sake of speed. Crock pot cooking, on the other hand, is a meal in one dish.

Another great reason to use a crock pot for your summertime cooking is the ease of washing up. Unlike traditional cooking with a couple of pots and pans, most crock pot meals are completed in one pot. This obviously reduces the hardware required to be washed up or loaded into the dishwasher (or if you are the same as me – both) afterwards.

So, you spend less time cleaning up, just as you spent less time slaving over a hot stove. Well, make that no time slaving over a hot stove and once the washing up is done, you can get back to enjoying the sun set, mucking about with with the dog or kids, or just waiting for the first stars.

While there will never be a method of cooking that suits everyone, crock pot cooking comes very close. So, if you have a crock pot collecting dust somewhere in the back of your pantry it is time to get it out, dust if off, and dig up some great summertime crock pot cooking recipes.

What Of Formula One?

Formula One, also known as Formula 1 or F1, and officially referred to as the FIA Formula One World is the highest class of single seater auto racing authorized by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

The “formula” in the name refers to a set of regulations with which all participants’ cars must comply. It is almost certainly the most widely watched televised spectator sport in the world after football.

Formula One can be seen live or tape delayed in almost each country and territory around the world and attracts one of the largest global television audiences. The 2008 season attracted a global audience of 600 million people per race.

It is a massive television event; the cumulative TV audience was calculated to be 54 billion for the 2001 season, broadcast to two hundred countries.

This is a long way indeed from its first beginnings. The very first Formula One World Championship Motor race took place at Silverstone in the United Kingdom in 1950 . In those initial days, teams who no longer compete on the modern F1 circuit dominated events with the very first World Championship being won by Italian Giuseppe Farina in an Alfa Romeo.

His team mate, the legendary Juan Fangio, won the title almost continuously until 1957 and, in fact, his record of five World Championship wins held until 2003 when Michael Schumacher won his sixth title.

It was during this period that probably the greatest driver never to win the World Championship was competing – the U.K.?s Stirling Moss.

One team that did contend in those early years was Ferrari, or Scuderia Ferrari to give the team its full title, whose prancing horse logo is followed by the red shirted fans or ?tifosi? across the world. In fact, over the last couple of years the sport has been dominated by Ferrari who until recently has been one of the few teams to manufacture the complete car, engine and all.

However the U.K. team of Maclaren, using engines from Mercedes Benz, have proved extremely successful. Another very successful team during the 2010 season proved to be Red Bull racing using engines supplied by Renault.

It is interesting to note that in the cases of both Maclaren and Red Bull, they have proved a lot more successful than the teams fielded by their engine suppliers, Mercedes and Renault. This almost certainly goes a long way to supporting the argument that it is the aerodynamic properties of the car that win races.

After a number of years in which we have seen the number of teams has remained fairly stationary or even declined, 2010 saw a resurgence in the number of cars on the grid with new entries from Lotus, Virgin Racing, and Hispania Racing bringing the number of starters to 24.

The calendar of races is also in a constant state of flux with Korea joining for the 2010 season and India being added in 2011 as Formula 1 becomes more and more a world- wide spectacle as it moves away from its traditional European heartland.

But wherever the teams race and whatever the number of cars on the starting grid it will continue to set the pulses racing as those 5 red lights go out!

Choosing Home Decorating Fabric

If you want to redecorate, you should be thinking about the textiles that you will use in your redecorating scheme. There are quite a few fabrics that can play a role in a redecoration project, such as carpets, some wall papers, such as flock, furnishings, cushions, lamp shades and wall hangings like tapestries and embroideries.

You can use the fabrics in these items to create a decoration theme over any other set of objects. You can buy old furniture, but it is expensive, you can purchase old paintings, but they are expensive, but textiles can be new yet still convey different atmospheres for little money. Think about the fabrics and colours that you would require to convey primitive, Eastern, Hispanic, Victorian or contemporary themes.

Let’s say that you would like to decorate your home in a Victorian style. It is the case that it would be good to have some old furniture, but what will definitely make the style scream ‘Victorian’ is the fabrics. You have to think about Victorian houses: they were quite large (unless you want to live in a hovel), and they were drafty.

This meant that the fabrics were weighty to hold back drafts. You could hang flock wallpaper, have weighty, lined curtains, lamp shades with tassels and weighty bedding with a real eiderdown or patchwork quilt.

The funny thing is that although Victorian textiles were very weighty, they tried to make them look very feminine, or perhaps that was why they tried to make them look more feminine. However, men provided the earnings and women ran the home in those days, so that may be why as well.

Therefore, there were lace edgings, lace trims, tassels, beading, velvet and brocade. Embroidery exam pieces can sometimes be picked up quite cheaply , but they are frequently handed down through families too.

A modern style or theme would have lots of bright and frequently contrasting colours. An extreme variation of contemporary style is minimalist with plenty of black and white but with maybe one splash of yellow in a corner somewhere. This style can be hard to achieve, can be unsettling, but can be dazzling as well. It is suggestive of the Sixties.

Some people strive to recreate an Eastern or Oriental style, but you have to be wary because otherwise you will end up with something that no Easterner would recognize. A bit like Charlie Chan and western style curries. You will be told to use pictures and figurines of elephants, tigers, dragons, carp and geese or ducks. This is all very well if you want to persuade your Western friends that you have an Oriental theme of decoration, but few Orientals would recognize it.

It is very difficult to get this theme looking authentic unless you are from the Far East or you get an Easterner in to assist you. Jades and silks could form a part of this styles along with some figurines. Be very cautious of trying to imitate a style you know nothing of.

Learning Speed Reading

What have you been reading lately? At a meeting, you can soon see who the wide readers are, since wide readers often think and speak well too. They win the admiration, respect, and fellowship of others. After all, reading expands the mind and many people consider it one of the most satisfying pleasures known to mankind, combining, as it does, mental agility and physical relaxation way above the scale offered by television.

Reading is primarily a mental activity, as you read with your mind and use your imagination to paint the storyline of the action thriller you are reading. You use your mind to imagine the pleasure that the characters in the story are experiencing as the plot unfolds; or you contemplate the various arguments and ideas theorized by the author in that self-help book you are studying.

Reading effectively helps you to develop an extensive range of vocabulary through reading various types of books. A skillful reader recognizes a wide range of vocabulary. The reader may not understand exactly what every word means, but he/she will have a good idea of what the sentence is trying to say.

The act of reading makes you more alert and more curious about hitherto unknown words. Some readers even like to employ ‘the dictionary habit’, which means that whenever they find a strange word, they try to figure out what it means by the context. If they are stumped, they refer to the dictionary.

Similarly, reading develops intellectual curiosity by exposing the reader to a variety of subjects. He/she learns to read by reading books of increasing difficulty and variety. Just as in other kinds of education, he/she is learning by actually doing and while he/she is reading he/she is automatically learning about the subject matter of the book too – a free by-product!

Reading trains you to have an active and open mind. Merely understanding the writers idea is not enough, you must make a positive response to what you read. Be an active, not a passive, reader. Develop the habit of drawing your own conclusions, the habit of active thinking, of agreeing or disagreeing with the author. Always keep your mind open; understand and consider the ideas that you read. A practical part of active reading is the drawing of conclusions.

Now let me tell you to the phenomenon of speed reading. All of the above applies between three and ten times over, because speed readers can read that much faster than the average reader! Consider that! – Being able to read, comprehend and remember all those books. You would certainly become well-read in your field far more quickly than others. Just imagine how that would help you at work or in school or university …

Now, let me tell you the four primary rules for better reading and better comprehension:

1) Try to read more and more every month. Remember the saying that practice makes perfect. 2) Develop the habit of reading for main ideas, ie look for the subject and predicate – the main ideas 3) Learn to read with focus and concentration. Think of what you are reading. Good readers read with understanding. 4) Learn to budget your time. Experiment with your reading time. Try purposely to read faster. Give yourself a time limit on a specific piece that you are reading.

Reading is a wonderfully stimulating mental activity. It expands your understanding and capability. You really have so much to gain by learning the joy of reading. So, go on and take down a book right today.

Are you interested in speed reading for yourself or a dear one? If so, please go along to our website focusing on Speed Reading.. This article, Learning Speed Reading is available for free reprint.

The Olympic Games are a sporting event played every two years at international level. A number of competitions are organized where thousands of athletes from around the world take part. The history of this fantastic sporting competition dates back to the 5th Century AD.

The Olympic Movement classified the Olympic Games into the Winter Olympic Games, the Summer Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games during the 20th and 21st Century.

The Paralympic Games are organized for after the Olympic Games and these are for disabled athletes. The Youth Olympic Games are for teenagers and were first held in 2010. The Olympic Charter defines the organization of the International Olympic Committee i.e. the governing body of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic flag carries five interlocking circles of red, blue, yellow, green and black and was introduced in 1920. The Olympic motto says ?Swifter, Higher, and Stronger?.

Some of the sports events held in the Summer Olympics are baseball, badminton, basketball, cycling, boxing, diving, soccer, sailing, rowing, hockey, water polo, wrestling, swimming, weightlifting, tennis etc.

Games played during the Winter Olympics are skiing, ice hockey, skating, ski jumping, curling, free style skiing, cross country skiing, down hill skiing,

A gold medal is presented to each first winner while silver and bronze medals are presented to the second and third winners respectively. Victory Diplomas are the certificates which are given to some top winners of every sport. The Olympic Flame is lit according to a tradition allied with these games.

A new flame is lit for each Olympics in the Ancient Olympic Stadium in Olympia, Greece. This flame is taken to the host country where the games are to be held.

The flame is carried around the whole host country by individuals walking, running, scuba diving, riding, and using other types of transport. Actually, several torches are carried around the country where the games are held.

The sizeable Olympic torch is lit by the last runner bearing the torch. This large torch keeps burning throughout the games. The flame is put out at the end of the games during the closing ceremony. A new torch is designed for every Olympics.

Just about all the nations of the world are represented at these games. National and international media coverage provides a opportunity to unknown athletes to be famous. The host city and country gets a chance to showcase their country to the world.

The host country organizes and funds the whole event. Over 13,000 athletes compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics in more than 400 activities.

Many challenges are faced when organizing this mega event. Some of the major challenges are terrorism, bribery of officials, boycotts and doping. The host city is usually chosen seven years ahead of the Olympic Games.

The United States has had the chance to host four Summer and four Winter Olympics. No other nation has hosted so many Olympic games.

The next Summer Olympics are scheduled to be held in London in 2012. Women are being particularly promoted to take part in these games. Female athletes will be able to take part in all the men?s sports in the coming Olympics for the first time. Women?s boxing has also been introduced thereby ending gender discrimination.

The Essentials Of Quilting

If you have never done any quilting before, you may be forgiven for thinking that it looks fairly simple. The fact is that it necessitates a lot of patience, skill and diligence to create a quilt. It certainly is not as easy as it looks. It takes practice and attention to detail. Given that, you must use decent quality textiles if you are considering making a quilt.

Cotton is all right for the task, but it ought to be the lowest you will go. No polyester or other man-made fabrics. If you do use these cheap textiles and spend weeks making your first quilt, you will simply regret it. If you make mistakes, but the fabric is decent at least there will be that one saving grace.

Once you have chosen your fabric, you can choose the style or design that you want. This may seem backwards, and that is OK. If you want, you can select the style first and then a fabric to match, but I would recommend that you simply stick with cotton for your first quilt.

Next, you have to get hold of a pattern. This is very straightforward. You can either join a local quilting group, where people will give you conventional patterns or sell you modern ones; or you can go on line and search Google or Yahoo for ‘free quilt patterns’ or you can go to your local craft shop and buy one that fits your requirements.

You will also need a decent set of tools to make your quilt. It is a pretty good idea not to scrimp on these tools as they are not expensive; will make your job a lot easier and will last a very long time. You will require at least one rotary cutter. ‘At least one’ because the wide blade cutters are very good for straight cuts whereas a small blade cutter is better for corners or shapes. By the way, these rotary cutters look like pizza cutters.

Because these cutters are sharp, you will also need a cutting board. This can be as simple as a sheet of plywood, trimmed to suit your table top or you can merely lay it on the floor. Without a board, you will ruin your table or carpet. You will also need dress-maker’s scissors and substantial shears. Further requirements are pins, needles, cotton, straight edges and markers.

Your pattern will explain about batting and a back fabric and you must pay a great deal of attention to the recommendations in your pattern.

This article cannot be a ‘teach yourself quilting’ manual, but I hope that it has shown you that you do not need a great amount of apparatus to make very passable bedding quilts. However, with only a little adaptation of the pattern, you could make some beautiful duvet covers. Not many people make duvet covers, so you could either make them exclusively for yourself or sell them.

Keeping Cats Out Of The Garden

It is very difficult to keep cats out of your garden, but do not give up, it can be managed. Cat owners may not understand why gardeners want to prevent cats gaining access to their gardens, but there are justifiable reasons, it is not always that gardeners hate cats. Cats are ferocious hunters and can also be very destructive.

For instance, my next door neighbour had a cat, but became lonely when her daughter moved away, so she permitted the cat to breed. Now she has six cats. But cats are not like dogs. My dog stays in my garden not bothering anyone except by barking if a stranger walks past the house However, that is his job and he is not only telling me but the neighbours too. These six cats do not stay in their own garden though, so we have all acquired six cats whether we want them or not.

The first issue I noticed was that birds stopped coming to pick my dog’s bowl clean in the afternoon. Then I saw a cat killing a lizard, a beautiful nine inch adult and then I remembered not seeing many lizards recently. There is one lizard, the Tokay, that they have totally wiped out – I used to listen to them calling at night, but no longer.

Cats also dig up flowers when they defecate and use furniture as clawing boards, so I do not want these destructive animals in my garden. But how do you keep cats out of your garden?

Walls are rarely protection against cats, but cats will often prowl along the bottom of walls and if they come across a hole, they will probably go in out of inquisitiveness, so repair all low-level gaps in your fences. There is not much you can do about the top of your wall other than putting broken glass or electrified wiring up there, but that is not a good idea.

Some dogs are good at keeping cats out, but not all. My dog got a vicious and completely unexpected swipe of claws across his nose one day. He used to chase them when they were kittens, but now they have grown up, he only growls to inform me a cat is on the premises. I cannot blame him.

In Australia, many gardeners believe that transparent bottles full of water confuse cats, so they stay away, but in my experience, only Australian cats react in that manner.

A row of prickly bushes or flowers along the base of a wall where cats regularly come in works. At the bottom of high walls too, where the cat cannot see them until he is on top of the wall. I often see cats mewing (in frustration, I hope) on the top of one of my walls. The only way down is to go back.

If you still cannot keep cats out, then you will need to train them not to come in. This is easiest accomplished by using a few methods. If cats are using your flower pots are conveniences, try smearing the pots with pepper, lavender, lemon, mustard, or tobacco. Or you could leave a mothball in each pot. Some of these will have the desired result for you, others will not.

Then there are commercial repellents, but I do not want to resort to them. However, if you have a big garden and a big problem, it might be the only method. There are also high frequency sound emitters. Humans cannot hear them, but almost all animals can, so I think that that is deplorable as well.

At night, motion-activated external lighting is a great upset to cats. Cats have very sensitive night vision so a quick flash from a floodlamp really puts them off a garden.

The best disincentive is water. You can get motion-activated sprinklers, which are brilliant at keeping cats out of your garden, but I like to sit in my office or in the garden with a powerful water pistol and squirt them by hand. The lizards have not come back yet, but nor do the cats quite so frequently either.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article writes on quite a few subjects, but is at present concerned with visual comfort lighting. If you would like to know more or check out some great offers, please go to our website at Outdoor Wall Lamps.

This remarkable invention is certainly among the greatest advances in technology. Made from natural cellulose fibers and binders, paper has applications in many industries. Paper has a warmth of hue and feel that impart an intrinsic beauty. The industry of papermaking still has a large element of art. This remarkable product has a long and successful history and it appears it will be around for a long time to come.

This tool has a long and fruitful history as a tool of the arts, of science, and business. It is very probable that much less of history itself would have been written without it. Originating in China about 100 B. C., it eventually became the writing medium of choice for many worldwide. The quality improved and the price declined and today, it is relatively inexpensive and plentiful.

The material has many qualities that have made it useful in a number of industries like construction and manufacturing. It was likely first used for applications other than drawing or writing. It is absorbent or water repellent, depending on how it was made, it is a good insulator, and it is quite strong.

There is an almost indefinable quality about an actual handwritten document. Receiving snail mail from a loved one can sometimes feel more significant than an e-mail. The smell, feel, sight, and sound of its natural fibers can enhance the experience of reading.

For crafters, not only is the finished product a thing of beauty, the process of doing so is too. Modern manufactures produce a large variety of colors and texures and products designed for myriad uses. Small artisans and home crafters produce products that can be both beautiful and unique.

The beauty and the value of paper can be seen through its own history, which is the history of the refinement of a tool by which history itself can be more faithfully recorded. Using this tool, human thought and endeavor took great leaps. It seems certain that this versatile material’s utility and pleasing aesthetics will continue to form a bridge from the past through the present and into the future.

Metallic paper is becoming even more popular. Whatever your paper needs are, we will have it just for you now – come see.. Also published at The Future Of Paper Is Reflected In Its History.

The Two Fundamental Sorts Of RC Cars

Do you like the idea of taking part in a real car race? Many people do, but the number of us that have the chance to drive a real racing car is tiny to infinitesimal. Many people would be too afraid to sit behind the wheel of a real racing car anyway because the power of these vehicles is really tremendous. However, there is a practical alternative and that is remote controlled car racing.

RC car racing is extremely exciting, but there is scarcely any danger to the driver or the fans. The rest is all there: thrills, spills, crashes, speed, skids, fires, gambling, etc.. The best drivers and the best builders are famous within their sport and are treated like mini stars. Some of these RC cars go really fast and they can accelerate and take corners faster than their full-scale counterparts.

There are two basic types of RC cars which are differentiated by their power source.

Electric RC Cars: this is the most prevalent sort of RC car, probably because parents buy them for children and a newcomer to the sport may purchase one to see whether he likes it or not.

The largest advantage of the electric RC car is that they are silent, which is a big plus point if your children use their cars in the garden. It is also important if you would like to attach a camera or a video recorder to it for filming timid, wild animals like birds.

They are also cheaper than other kinds of model cars and smokeless, which means that you can practice manoeuvres indoors if it is raining.

Some disadvantages are that the batteries of an electric RC car wear down. This means that the car will become slower and that the speed of the car will be regulated by the charge of the batteries not the power of the engine.

Batteries are expensive too and rechargeable batteries are very expensive to purchase. The batteries might run down whilst the car is some distance away.

Liquid Fuel RC Cars: there are two types of liquid fuel RC cars: those that run on a special mix called Nitro and those that run on petrol. These cars are much faster than battery cars and they run for far longer as well.

They are also cheaper to run. These facts make the liquid fuel RC car the choice of real aficionados, racers and car builders alike.

Petrol and Nitro are cheap in comparison with batteries and the quantity that the engines of these cars use is almost insignificant anyway.

However, they come with disadvantages as well. They have an internal combustion engine, so they produce smoke, which means that they should not be used indoors and they are loud. Most racers would say that this adds to the excitement of a race and they are probably correct.

These model RC cars were meant to race and the public likes to watch them doing it.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with remote controlled cars as a hobby. If you have an interest in model or toy RC vehicles, please go over to our website now at 1/5 Scale RC Cars
